Court views Doctor Anu To be liable over death of patient during costimetic surgery



Dr Anu Adepoju has been found liable over a failed buttocks surgery in 2020 which prompted the passing of the patient.

A Fedral High Court in Lagos State has sentenced Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, the founder of MedContour Services Ltd., for directing a failed plastic surgery that prompted the demise of Nneka Onwuzuligbo a long time back.

This was unveiled on Friday by previous Director-General of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Babatunde Irukera in a tweet.

He wrote:

“Today is a day of pride for me that I personally prosecuted Anu Adepoju and her medical practice. Though I’ve left, the case has ended in a conviction strengthening the accountability framework for all in society, professionals or otherwise. This is how society should work and grow.”

Irukera added,

“Dr. Anu Adepoju and her medical practice were convicted on all five counts charged by the FCCPC. The wheel of justice may grind slowly, but we must see it through. What we need are enforcement with audacity and the will to prosecute competently and diligently. Good day for consumers of professional services.”

Review that the in 2020, FCCPC summoned Adepoju on five counts before Justice Mohammed Liman. The charges included allegations that the cosmetic surgeon overlooked calls by the agency to show up and deliver specific document.

Ex Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria; Godwin Emfiele Conceded N300M Bail over Naira Upgrade Case



At the FCT High Court previous Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has been conceded bail worth N300 million on Wednesday in the wake of being accused of the unlawful redesign of the naira notes.

Emefiele supposedly approved printing N684.5 million at a rate of N18.96 billion and furthermore approved the withdrawal of N124.8 billion from the Revenue Fund of the Federation without legitimate approval.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) blamed Emefiele for ignoring lawful bearings during the execution of the naira trade strategy under previous President Muhammadu Buhari’s organization.

They asserted he continued with the naira upgrade without the essential endorsements from the CBN Board and President Buhari.

Emefiele pleaded not guilty to the charges and was addressed by (SAN). The court conceded him bail like a past decision by Justice Hamza Muazu, requiring two guarantees with property inside the FCT esteemed at N300 million.

These guarantees need to handover their property records, ongoing identification photographs, and identity cards or passports with the court registry. Furthermore, Emefiele was disallowed from leaving the country without court authorization.
