Cholera outbreak: Tinubu constitutes presidential c’ttee to oversee emergency operations

President Bola Tinubu has directed the setting up of a presidential committee to oversee the Cholera Emergency Operation Centre, operated by the National Centre For Disease Control.

The Minister of Health, Ali Pate, made this known on Tuesday after the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

He added that the committee’s effort is in addition to state government support to ensure Nigeria makes progress in reducing open defecation.

“The Council then approved a cabinet committee comprising the federal ministries of Health, Finance, Water Resources, Environment, Youth, Aviation, Education because some of our children will be returning to school . In addition to this, the state government, we will co-opt, so that Nigeria makes progress in reducing open defecation because cholera is a developmental issue that requires a multi-sectoral approach”.

“The President directed that a cabinet committee be set up to oversee what the emergency operation centre led by NCDC is doing and for the resources to be provided complemented by the state government,”

he said.

Pate further disclosed:

“At the moment about 31 states have recorded 1528 cases and 53 deaths in Nigeria. That is what we are working through the Emergency Operation Centre that was activated by NCDC on Monday.

“Now we have a cholera outbreak and we discussed extensively in the Council in addition to a new emergence of Yellow Fever specifically in Bayelsa State.

“On cholera we are in the middle of the 7th pandemic globally which is decades in the making. In 2022, the world had almost 500,000 cases of cholera so it is not only peculiar to Nigeria. In 2023 almost 700,000 cases of cholera were reported by the World Health Organization.

“This year more than 200,000 cases have occurred in five regions of the World.”

He emphasised that a multi sectoral approach is required to tackle the outbreak .

“Resources were deployed to 21 states to help them respond to cholera. We are improving awareness of population, handwashing, hygiene sanitation, in addition to treatment with drugs, and intravenous fluids,” he added.

Tee Billz has said Sean Diddy Combs who was recently exposed as an abuser is his mentor.

Tiwa Savage’s ex-husband Tunji Balogun aka Tee Billz has taken to his instagram page to seemingly pay tribute to billionaire rapper Diddy hours after a video of him brutally beating his ex partner Cassie in a hotel, surfaced.

Tee Billz posted a photo of the American rapper with his daughter and said he learnt a lot from him. He expressed gratitude for learning from him and narrated how he made certain achievements due to Diddy’s influence.

He added hay he learnt how to be a father from the business mogul who is under allegations of physical, sexual abuse and human trafficking.

He wrote:

I grew up wanted to be you and I achieved certain things in life bcos of you! I’m grateful for everything I learned from you! I’m feeling teaching my kids not to idolise no one but God. I pray for the mental & emotional wellbeing of your children and may God forgive your soul….The best thing I learnt from you is being a father regardless

When followers took his post to mean support for the rapper’s actions, Tee Billz said that he would have killed Diddy if it was his daughter he assaulted.

He wrote:

For the idiots commenting on my last post! It breaks my heart to see my mentor and one time idol go down like that. Diddy will not make it to court alive if Cassie was my daughter! Social media is really for shallow minded people.

Nigerian Man attempts Guinness World Record for Most Eateries Visited in 1 day [video]

A young fellow distinguished as Brian Nwana is already halfway in his main goal to break the Guinness world record attempt for most fast food eateries visited in a day.

The digital content creator has visited 50 restaurants out of an arranged 120 eateries as he trekes from Maitama to Wuse in Abuja.

As the guidelines direct that Brian needs to visit the eateries either by walking or by public transport with receipts, he has picked to trek to the eateries.

The Abuja based content creator has had support from different big wigs including previous record holder Hilda Baci, food critic Opeyemi and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

The record what began April 24th is designated to end today April 25th in precisely 24 hours.
